What Chumcreek is really about
Chumcreek sits at the junction of forest, farmland, and mountain country. The land here is generous: tall gums, fern gullies, creek crossings, and long ridge-top views that reward the patient traveller. Our horses know every trail, and our guides know when to talk and when to let the bush do the explaining. We're not a theme park version of the outdoors. We're the real thing, slow-paced and seasonal, shaped by rain and mist and the particular quality of morning light you only find at altitude.

Trail rides and hut stays
Our core experiences fall into two broad categories: day rides and overnight stays. Day rides range from a gentle two-hour intro through the creek flats to a half-day climb into the ranges. Overnight packages combine riding with a stay in one of our off-grid mountain huts, where dinner is cooked on a wood stove and the only sound after dark is the wind in the trees.

Planning your visit
Chumcreek runs rides throughout the year, with each season bringing its own character. Autumn is all golden light and cool mornings. Winter rides through the mist are quietly dramatic. Spring brings wildflowers along the creek tracks, and summer evenings at the huts are long and warm. Bookings are essential for weekends and school holidays, and we recommend getting in touch early if you have a group of six or more.
Riders of all experience levels are welcome. Our horses are matched to each rider individually, and no prior experience is required for most of our day rides. All we ask is that you come with a sense of curiosity and a willingness to slow down. The bush rewards both.
